THE HOUSE

Stone, oak and light

A Gozitan home on Xagħra Square, restored so that the old walls still do the talking.

Silver Jubilee has been rebuilt from the inside out. Original limestone was stripped back and left bare, beamed ceilings were kept, and an oak staircase rises through the house like a piece of furniture.

The maisonette sits on the first floor, a flight of stairs up from the square. Kitchen, dining table and living room share one open space, with shuttered doors onto the balcony over the square. There are two air-conditioned bedrooms and three bathrooms, and a further flight of stairs leads up to the roof terrace.

It sleeps 4 comfortably, which makes it as easy for two couples as it is for a small family.
